Established in 2024, Jorbin Acres is a biodiverse micro-farming operation connecting the community with nutrient-dense, sustainably-grown produce and flowers. We believe in the power of food as a means of building community, fostering connection with the earth, and learning about the world around us.
Our farm spans just over a quarter acre, growing a mix of vegetables and flowers on leased land in Arvada and Erie, Colorado, as well as in our Lafayette backyard. We follow organic practices, using low-till methods, crop rotation, and never using pesticides, herbicides, or synthetic fertilizers to cultivate healthy soil and a thriving ecosystem.
We are committed to making local, nutrient-dense food accessible to all. To support food justice, we donate excess produce to Sister Carmen's food bank, unsold bouquets to local nursing homes, and provide 20% of our CSA shares free to community members in need.
At Jorbin Acres, we are passionate about nourishing brains, bellies and community.
Ellen takes on the role of primary dreamer and schemer at Jorbin Acres, turning her lifelong passion for gardening into a mission to grow fresh, sustainable food for the community. After years as an enthusiastic gardener, she made the leap into farming two years ago with the support of GoFarm Colorado’s Beginner Farmer Training and Incubator Farmer programs, launching the market garden.
When she’s not on the farm, Ellen applies her background in chemical engineering to pharmaceutical research. She also loves connecting with others at the market, where she’s always eager to chat about science or gardens—be sure to say hello!
Ryan has been the best support system/voice of reason behind Jorbin' Acres who helps to distill some more preposterous dreams and schemes into plans that can be viably executed. He’s been essential in setting up the farm’s irrigation system, moving compost around the plots, and hauling heavy coolers at the farmers market.
Off the farm, Ryan is also a chemical engineer, specializing in lithium extraction processes. A passionate hockey fan (with “head lettuce” on the field and on the ice!) and a talented cook, Ryan is always up for a conversation about skating or recipes—don’t hesitate to strike up a chat!
Jessie is the best pup, the team mascot, and full time snuggle support. She is featured prominently in the Jorbin Acres logo.
